This is a journal of the growing partnership between me (Laurie) and my horse, Brego. Brego is a Missouri Fox Trotter, foaled 2001, which we purchased in early December 2008 when he was 7. Tim is my husband and the best horse trainer in the whole world. :) He is patiently teaching me how to become Brego's leader and partner. If you want to learn a little more about us, see Golden Gaits Ranch™. Our other horses are Strider (Tennessee Walker) and Cody (Quarter Horse). I am new to the horse world, so if I sound like I am discovering things for the first time, it's true.
Brego's registered name is "Jester's Boss Man", but I've named him "Brego" after a horse in the "Lord of the Rings" movies. In the movies, Brego was a disturbed horse in the barn that Aragorn calmed down (by speaking elvish to him) then released to the wild. Later, this horse rescued Aragorn by the stream where he'd washed up, and took him to safety. The Brego in the movie looks very much like my Brego, but is a warmblood and about 2 hands taller. I hope that one day when I'm in trouble, my Brego will help me!
BREGO & LAURIE - MAY '09
Tahoma
We never will forget my first horse, Tahoma. Tim bought her for me shortly after we met--somehow he knew that someday we'd be married! While I was still in California, Tim thought about me as he trained her, and I got to join in on the training on a few visits to Colorado before we were married in June 2008. Just two weeks after our marriage, Tahoma was apparently kicked by another horse, injuring her stifle beyond repair, and we chose to let her enjoy horsey heaven rather than suffer here through tricky surgery & recovery on earth, most likely unable to ever do what she was created for. Thanks, Tahoma, for a blessed memory!
